American Psycho Sequel Series Details

According to entertainment weekly, FX is currently creating a sequel series to American Psycho where the protagonist, Patrick Bateman, is in his 50s and has taken on an apprentice to assist him in his brutal hobby of butchering people. The writer of the book, Bret Ellis, hasn't been mentioned to contribute to the sequel.

If you're like me and you love a madly surreal film that plunges into the dark abyss of the human psyche, then you will love the film American Psycho. It perfectly displays the battle between a civilised man and his animalistic ego - as well as hundreds of other arguable meanings.

I am very concerned that Bret Ellis' objective, when he wrote this book, is going to be spoilt because I think the feeling of uncertainty and ambiguity that the ending gives the viewer is essential for this film being the masterpiece that it is. Creating a sequel could just be assuming that the film has a definitive message, which I don't believe was Bret Ellis' intention. However, at least it won't be as bad as Pirates of the Caribbean 4, that's for sure.
