Top 10 Future Video Game Films

#1  Bioshock

If any of you have played and completed the most recent Bioshock game you will have discovered that there is literally an infinite amount of ideas that could make it to the big screen, from the 1950s themed underwater city: Rapture - to Colombia, the 1920s themed city in the clouds. Both of the Bioshock story lines that have been in the games are dark, violent and fantastically unique, and I would certainly can't wait to see either of them in a feature film.

#2  Dead Space

The Dead Space franchise is one that is dearly loved by horror and sci-fi fans, for good reason. Since the release of such films as 'Paranormal Activity' and 'The Strangers', horror films have been the same old ghost story about a haunted house or people trapped in a house. Dead Space would bring a much needed rebirth of monster horror due to it's terrifying necromorphs (alien zombie things) yet with intense emotional character development alongside it. Perhaps it would make jump scares actually scary again, unlike the laughable jump scares in films like Insidious.

#3  Heavy Rain

This Crime/Thriller/Detective PlayStation exclusive is not for everyone's
taste as a game. This is purely because of the slow game play and lack of real interaction, it was more like you were watching a film than playing a game, however the mysterious plot in Heavy Rain is unquestionably fantastic. People who have already played this game might not benefit from a film adaptation, however this story deserves to be shared amongst those who were unfortunate enough not to play it.

#4  Assassin's Creed

In my opinion, the game play in Assassin's Creed is far too repetitive - nevertheless - the intense, and surprisingly historically accurate story to Assassin's Creed is definitely worthy of a trilogy of movies, maybe more. Not only would it give movie goers a deeper insight into history, it would also provide a heavy load of action and thrill, as the protagonist is a occupational assassin.

#5  Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry follows the story of a half demon, half human called Dante, the son of the legendary demon Sparta who fought against his own kind to save humanity. He has set up a career which involves him hunting down troublesome demons - however occasionally a big job comes along that is more personal and world threatening than his usual work. If Devil May Cry is going to be made into a series of films it will be hugely original, it will be a wild combination of anime, secret agent and super hero films. This game is one of my personal favourites and I guarantee that if they get this right, it will be the best video game film yet.

#6  Dante's Inferno

The more cultured people in the world will know that this game is largely based on the epic poem 'The Divine Comedy', written by Dante Alighieri, the story of a man who has to make his way through 'Inferno', 'Purgatorio' and 'Paradisio'. It's very long and may seem dated to some, which is why this game is so very necessary. It's an awesome, violence infested, third person action game that tells a similar story but in a far more gory way. People ought to know this tale and the best way to get it to them is through cinema. I would definitely be worthy of a trilogy considering the many demon gods that Dante has to confront.

#7  Uncharted

With the array of superhero flicks coming our way it would be refreshing to see a non enhanced human be the hero on the screen. Nathan Drake plays a treasure hunter and is very much a modern day Indiana Jones. The setting of the games is usually in a tropical part of the world like the Amazon, and it could make for a really interesting looking film as well as having a deep and engaging plot behind it.

#8  God of War

The unfortunate failure of 'Wrath of the Titans' could be blamed on its restrictions to a family friendly audience. God of War however, whilst in a similar theme, would definitely have a more mature audience as it is notorious for being one of the most violent video games. God of War follows a powerful servant of the gods who must go around fighting mythical creatures to avenge his fallen family. The film version could focus more on the traumatic experiences Kratos has had to overcome.

#9  Mortal Kombat

The original Mortal Kombat movies were ridicules, in some senses anyway, but incredibly enjoyable in others, however with the aid of modern day special effects, the Mortal Kombat franchise could be turned into the best fighting competition movie since 'Enter the Dragon'. The very good online mini-series showed us the potential that Mortal Kombat has and I hope they have a chance to better this with a film.

#10  Mass Effect

Despite the less than average story line to Mass Effect 3, the franchise has kept many gamers hooked following the story of Commander Shepard as he repeatedly saves earth from destructive and imperialistic aliens. It will definitely make a brilliant sci-fi/ action flick that will probably be better than the upcoming Star Wars (hopefully not though).
